FREE · OFF-GRID MESSENGER

Messaging
when the internet
is down.

Stolo is a free encrypted messenger that keeps working off the grid — text, files, voice, GPS, and an emergency SOS over a self-configuring mesh of Wi-Fi, cellular, and TCP. No account. No servers. No dead zones.

§ 02 ADAPTIVE PATH SELECTION

One message. Every medium. One delivery.

A single message can cross Radio, Wi-Fi, cellular — and any other link you add. The mesh picks the best medium for every hop and stitches them together without you noticing.

§ 03 GETTING STARTED

Three steps. No setup.

Download the free app and you're on the mesh. No account, no sign-up, nothing to configure.

01

Download.

Get Stolo free from the App Store. It's accountless — no sign-up, no email, no cloud company in the middle.

  • Free on the App Store
  • No account, no phone number
  • Works without any special hardware
02

Connect.

Nearby devices discover each other and form a mesh on their own — over Wi-Fi, cellular, or TCP. No pairing codes, no server.

  • Peers find each other automatically
  • End-to-end encrypted
  • Works with no internet at all
03

Message.

Use Stolo like any messaging app — chats, groups, files, voice, and live location — except it keeps working past the edge of coverage.

  • Text, files, and voice messages
  • Live GPS position & emergency SOS
  • Store-and-forward when peers drop
§ 04 HOW STOLO COMPARES

How Stolo compares. Honestly.

Cellular and satellite are great where they work — we're not trying to replace your phone. Here's where Stolo wins, and where another stack is the right call.

§ 05 PLATFORM

Field properties, not features.

The properties that make Stolo work when nothing else does.

01 · TRANSPORT

Wi-Fi, cellular, TCP — and optional radio, at once.

Not fallbacks. The mesh picks the best medium per packet and switches mid-session.

Anymedium

Wi-Fi · cellular · TCP/IP · Ethernet · optional LoRa radio (BYO RNode over Bluetooth)

02 · SELF-CONFIGURING

Routes form without a controller.

No central server, no dispatch. When any link drops, the mesh re-negotiates its own paths automatically.

03 · ACCOUNTLESS

No sign-up. No middleman.

Your identity lives on your device. There's no cloud account and no company in the path.

04 · ENCRYPTION

AES-256 end-to-end.

Keys live on the devices. Not on our server — not on anyone's.

05 · OPTIONAL LORA
10km+

Per hop with an optional, bring-your-own LoRa RNode radio over Bluetooth. Chains for longer reach.

06 · EMERGENCY SOS

One tap to raise the alarm.

Broadcast an SOS with your position to everyone on the mesh, even with no signal to a tower.

07 · STORE & FORWARD

Survives multi-day outages.

Messages queue on-device, signed and sealed. They deliver the instant the recipient comes back within reach — hours or days later, unchanged.

08 · GPS

Live location, off-grid.

Peers share position over the mesh. See your people on the map even when no cell tower can.

§ 06 QUESTIONS WE GET

The honest ones.

If you're weighing Stolo against a radio, satellite, or a consumer chat app, these are the questions we hear — in order.

Is Stolo really free?+

Yes. The consumer app is free on the App Store, with no subscription and no account. We plan to charge organizations for managed deployments and hardware — but the app you download stays free.

Do I need any internet or special hardware?+

No. Two phones running Stolo form a mesh on their own over Wi-Fi, cellular, or TCP — no extra gear required. For long-range links you can optionally add your own LoRa "RNode" radio over Bluetooth, but it's never required.

Can Stolo read my traffic?+

No. Every message is end-to-end encrypted with AES-256, and keys live on devices, not on our servers. There's no account and no server in the path — by design, we can't read your traffic.

What happens when someone is out of range?+

Messages queue on peers in the mesh, signed and sealed. The moment that person returns to range — minutes, hours, or days later — the message delivers. The sender sees a "pending" state until it lands.

Which platforms does Stolo run on?+

iOS is shipping now on the App Store. Desktop and Linux builds are aimed at relays and self-hosting, and more platforms are coming — but iPhone is the app to download today.
§ 07 FOR ORGANIZATIONS

Deploy Stolo across your operation.

The app is free for everyone. For teams that need managed deployments and radios, we're building Stolo for organizations and Hardware-as-a-Service — this offering is early, so let's talk about what you need.

We're working with mining, police & public safety, cities & municipalities, first responders, maritime, and construction. Managed radios and relays (Hardware-as-a-Service) are in development — no shipping catalog yet, no pricing page. Tell us about your site and we'll scope it with you.
